With my existing knowledge, I know that I still have a long way to go before I am fully prepared to teach with each of the ELA technology standards. However, I feel pretty confident with my existing knowledge on Standard L.5 "Vocabulary: Use Context Clues". I think I would be able to implement this standard into my teaching, as it is about determining the meaning of word based on context clues. During my senior year, I tutored a fifth grader in order to prepare him for the Reading FSA, the standardized test that elementary school students, middle school students, and some high school students must take. When he had a question asking him for the meaning of a certain word in a reading passage, I would always remind him to use the context clues of the word. This also relates to the technological aspect of this standard as the student I was tutoring was preparing to take the online version Reading FSA. I always encouraged him to use the highlight tool to mark the context clues and find the meaning of a word. This makes me confident that I would be able to teach with this standard using only my current knowledge. On the other hand, I feel that the Standard SL.5 "Use Digital Media" requires more knowledge on my part before I can attempt to use it to teach. This is because I do not have much experience with creating audio recordings and visual displays for presentations. I have confidence that I will master this before going into teaching, as it is a vital task in making presentations understandable.

Personally, I would love to use discussion groups via the Internet to implement technology within the classroom. This would provide a place for students to participate in productive conversations related to what they are learning with their classmates. However, since I want to teach at the kindergarten level, I would need to find an easier technological tool to incorporate into my classroom. Instead, I could use web-based media such as graphics, animation, audio, and video. This could provide the visual aspect that children of such a young age need to learn important concepts such as counting and identifying colors. I could attach these files to my class website and provide instructions for parents to access them in order for them to aid their children with homework. Digital citizen concepts that I will need to address include providing instruction to the parents as to how they can connect to and navigate the class website. This way, they will be able to help their children. Since my students will be so young, it will be my goal to address digital citizen concepts to their parents in hopes that they will someday teach their children these concepts when they are old enough to understand them. In summation, the content and application of my classroom technology is appropriate for students of this age as long as their parents are guiding them through their work.

The Newsletter Design assignment was one that I really enjoyed working on. A few of the things I like most from my newsletter include the fall theme which makes it visually appealing and the creative title of one of my articles "Leafy Learning". Meanwhile, I don't really like the line I used to separate the permission slip from the newsletter. Next time, I think I could improve this by using a dashed line in order to separate both parts. I could also start to create my newsletters without the use of a template. However, I do not yet feel ready to do this on my own. In my future career, I cam use my knowledge from this assignment to send newsletters to my very own class. Although there are still several years left before I become a teacher, I am thrilled to someday be able to use this knowlegde in my own classroom.
