Resource Critique Activity

     The resource I chose is "Creating Grammar Gurus". This resource is geared at addressing standard LAFS.K.W.2.6 which describes that with the help of adults, kindergarten students should explore digital tools in order to develop their writing. "Creating Grammar Gurus" is a lesson plan that is designed to allow children to develop their grammar skills, specifically through the use of nouns, verbs, and adjectives. During class, students would use this resource to create a grammar chart along with their class and later; they would publish their own sentence. Personally, I believe that this idea is a bit much for children of such a young age. Perhaps, it could be successfully implemented through the help of parents, as teachers could easily assign homework through this resource. However, it is not realistic to expect that this would work well in the classroom setting, as teachers would have to help each student navigate this tool.

    Hey Nicole! I agree that while this is a really great project idea, it might be a little too content content heavy for a kindergarten class. Maybe this could be more of a whole in class project, where the teachers and students collaborate on this chart.

    You have a really good point there, Nicole! Maybe if this were to happen later in the school year, the little kiddos would be better able to understand and complete the assignment? If there were parent volunteers helping different groups of kids that could make it work better too.

Prior to this project, I had never used Prezi. Therefore, I chose to create my presentation it in order to familiarize myself with the website. Although I found that I prefer Microsoft PowerPoint, I found Prezi to be a fun tool that students might find more engaging.      As a student, I have used Microsoft Word to write countless papers and extensive notes. I have found the editing and formatting tools extremely useful and beneficial. This is the computer software that I have used most throughout my educational experience. I have found Microsoft Word as an extremely valuable tool. I've seen my teachers use the program to write tests and quizzes in a neat manner. Additionally, my teachers have used it to create attractive, appealing handouts and visual aids to use as supplements during their lectures.
